Paris restaurant reservations

Is there a website that allows you to make online reservations for various Paris restaurants? We will be staying in an apartment, so we don't have a concierge to call ahead of time and make the reservations for us.

Thanks for any information!

If you know the name of the restaurant where you want reservations, do a google search to see if they have a website. If they do, it is usually possible to make online reservations. We have done this in the past for Aux Lyonnais since it is usually filled to the rafters each night! Once in Paris, you can also call to make reservations, or walk to the restaurant a day or so in advance to make them. We've had good luck with all 3 methods.

Thanks, Janis! That's a great idea!
Please tell me about Aux Lyonnais. Where is it located, and what did you eat there that you really liked?

Janis, thanks for the info. My wife saw the menu and said "I want seafood" so we might not go there anyway. I am finding it very daunting to find a place for dinner in Paris (we're there only for a Saturday night). We're staying in Rue Cler but I'm willing to ride the Metro to a good place. We may just eat nearby the hotel, which is fine by me. Seems like my wife wants a sit-down meal more often than not, but when I'm traveling, a sandwich and juice from a conveinance store is often good enough, I'd rather spend my time walking around and seeing places!

OpenTable.com has some restaurants for Paris that you can book online. I use Opentable.com alot for my local restaurant reservations and it works great. I would hope that it would do the same in Paris.

I sent Veronica a personal message before I saw your message Dave.
Two very different experiences at Aux Lyonnais (last year & this year). The menu changes daily, so you are at the mercy of what happens to be on for the night. Last year my entire meal was sublime (husband's too)...this year he liked his meal...I just liked dessert. There just wasn't anything on the menu that appealed to me, and what I ended up with was, IMO, not good at all...except for dessert.
It is a lovely place -- an 1890's bistro which probably hasn't changed much since then. Lots of atmosphere.
We were staying in the 6th, and it took two metro trains and a walk of a few blocks to get there, so not sure if I will return on my next trip or not. Too many good restaurants in Paris to choose from...even if this is an Alain Ducasse restaurant.

While out sightseeing, I stop to scan menus posted outside cafes/restaurants that are located in an area I'd like to return to in the evening. I can then stop & make a reservation for that night. If they don't have openings, I just find another.

Thanks, Janis and Dan! Janis, interesting comments regarding Aux Lyonnais. I have mixed feelings about eating there.
