Paris restaurant for a 40th bday party

Hey everyone
My friend wants to spend her 40th b-day in Paris (without the kids and the husband). What's your fave restaurant in Paris? This would be a girls night out - possibly a fun restaurant, where the wait staff does not have anything against tourists! Ideas would be great - we have a year to plan. (We are foodies) I have yet to look at a Zagat guide - again, we have a year to plan, so I thought I would post here and see what everyone says. (And no I dont have a 2008 Rick Steves Paris book - I want to wait and get the 2009 edition)
Thanks to everyone!!!! =)

I recommend going to www.parisnotes.com They have a list of their recommendations. Paris Notes is also a wonderful newsletter they send out, subscription only, which I love getting.

Hazel, I just spent my 30th birthday in Paris - your friend has definitely got the right idea. I actually went on a Seine dinner cruise (Bateaux Parisiens) for my big night. The boat loaded at the base of the Eiffel Tower, cruised down the river and back, with plenty of champagne and live music the whole time. We circled around the Statue of Liberty to "New York, New York" and then at the very end of the ride, the band played "Happy Birthday" and the singer brought me a cake with a giant sparkler in it. By far my best birthday ever. The food was okay, but the whole experience was amazing fun.
