Paris Restaurant called Sargents?

Has anyone been to a restaurant in Paris called Sargents I believe. Any recommendations?

Yep, it's right on the main drag on Ile St Louis -- about halfway along on the east-west axis. The full name is La Taverne du Sergeant Recruteur or something close. Kind of a pub affair. Interesting and fun. If you're going to eat a half dozen major meals in Paris you might as well include the place. I've only had lunch there, but have done that a couple of times.

Patty, we had several friends recommend the place and so we looked into it. It appears that now it is an all you can eat and drink establishment which costs around 40 euro. We found many charming restaurants in the Place St. Michel area where we could get three course menus and a bottle of wine for around 25 euro each.

Ouch! It's changed. It ain't worth forty euros ..... on the other hand if it's really all you can drink.....

Nah, go somewhere else.

Where is Steve when he is needed?

Yeah, since he's right down the road and has walked the street and the bridges, it'd be nice if he could slip over and take a look.

I just ate there with my aunt and uncle last week. They have been coming to France for the past 30 years and eat there every time they come.

Their current fixed price menu is 40€ and what comes with that is as follows:

Large basket of fresh veggies to make as large of a salad as you want, a large basket of meats to cut as much as you can eat, unlimited beer/wine, a choice of 10 or so main dishes and then a choice of around 5 desserts.

The food was great and the staff were very fun. The interior is very quirky and you'll find a large mix of nationalities.

We had our last meal in Paris when we were there last month! We really enjoyed it.

Try Robert & Louise for the best red meat you will ever have and then I'd recommend Hotel du Nord as my favorite. It's not really a hotel, a little tough to find (just map it before you go), and it's all locals who may not speak English. But the best meal in Paris hands down.

It sounds like you are paying for the fun,,, I know you can eat and drink just fine for much less then that price( hey,, and you do half the work,, making your own salad and cutting your own salami, LOL ) .. I think it might be a fun night out.. but I don't think I would go with any idea of food being anything near worth that price. DRINK lots .. LOL
