Paris Pass worth the money?

Hello all! I wanted to write to see if there is anyone who thinks that the Paris Pass ( http://www.parispass.com/ ) is a good deal. This is not just the museum pass that is sold in Paris by the Metro. It is an addition to it. It includes it plus a bunch of other things like metro pass and Seine cruise and a wine tasting and a 2 day red tour bus pass. I was just wondering if anyone had purchased it and thought it was worth the cost? I would be there 5 days and would buy the 4 day pass. What do you think?
Thank you for your advice.

Awww no one knows about the pass? Or worse, maybe no one has had a good experience. I read some past reviews and no one seemed to talk about the Paris Pass, only the museum pass. So sad. :(

Stacy, this looks very new. In the 2011 RS guidebook, he talks about a two-day pass, but this looks much better. An awful lot of attractions are included. Don't be afraid to give it a whirl? signed, a graduate of William R. Boone High School, Orlando, Fla.

Don't fail to consider how many attractions you want that are already on the Museum Card (which I adore) and how many attractions you can possibly see in a civil-servant's workday! (I'm referring to "when they are open") For example, since there is usually a line for the security screen at the Sainte-Chapelle (because it's in the Law Courts courtyard), you might wait 30 minutes before getting in to see one of the most beautiful things in Paris. It's true that you'll skip some of the lines with the pass, but do you want to limit yourself to two hours in the Louvre? It takes 20 minutes to walk through the longest corridor of (minor) painting galleries. I notice that the wine tasting is from 3 to 4 PM. Period. That's a rip-off.

The Paris Pass has been around for some time. It's nothing new. IMO, it's not a good deal because the Paris Visite transportation pass that comes with it is way overpriced. You can do much better buying a Paris Museum Pass and making your own transportation arrangements (either a ten-ticket carnet or one of the other transportation passes).

I agree with Tim. It is a pain to do this, but you will have to compare the cost of all the items that you will actually use against the Paris Pass costs. Whenever I do it, I am spending way too much. For transportatoin, buy a carnet, 10 tickets at a time. These tickets can be used by whoever is traveling, not just the passholder. Also, you probably don't need a 4 day museum pass. Plot out your museum schedule, keeping in mind the usual Monday or Tuesday closing days. Unless you are an avid history or museum goer, you probably won't need more than 2 days. Just buy the museum pass separately. And Paris is more than just museums. Cafe sitting is a highly underrated activity. You will learn more about the French and Paris by perople watching in a Paris neighborhood (not with tourists) than you will in 50 museums.
Is the Paris Pass sent to you in advance? At one time, anyway, you had to pick it up in Paris, in a not very central area. That is a deal breaker in my book as well as the higher cost for more museum days and metro pass. Good that you are planning and reseraching in advance. Check out RS larger Paris Guide as he makes suggestions on all the different passes. Bobbie

Thank you for all the advice. I have been looking too see what I can and can't fit in, making a list and seeing what days are best to go where. It is a lot of planning. I am used to planning but not this much. I think its because of it being my first trip out of the US. I'm over thinking it. I have relaxed a lot since I first bought the plane ticket.
Thank you all again for the info! This site has just been so helpful. I honestly have no idea what I would have done with out it. :)

Personally, on my umpteenth visit to Paris (for 5 days), I'd still be buying the 4-day pass! There's only a handful of Great Museum Cities of the World, and Paris is certainly one! I would suggest, if you're comfortable with the cash outlay, to get the 4-day pass if you're planning on spending 4 days in a row IN Paris. Since it's your first visit, you really don't know what to expect. Also, with the longer pass, you can simply pop into many pass-covered museums and sites you otherwise would have skipped; many people have made wonderful discoveries this way. It's also a great way to spread out a visit to the Louvre over 4 days, for example...:-) You may decide later that you spent more than necessary, but it's your 'first pass-by on the Parisian buffet'. On future visits you may want to narrow down your scope, although I haven't felt the urge to do so yet... I also suggest not getting the combo pass; just the Paris Museum Pass (buy at your first museum) and carnet(s) of metro tickets. For info on what's included and where to buy, see parismuseumpass. com.

After looking it all over I have decided not to go with the Paris Pass. I will save about 30-40 euros by just buying my own museum pass and metro card (and anything else I may be able to fit in). Thank you for all the input. It really helped! :)

On a first trip, I'd definitely get the museum pass. Last time I was in Paris, I didn't. I knew I would spend a whole day just at the Louvre and I also didn't want to rush around from museum to museum. If your dates work out, you might save money by getting the Navigo pass. It is weekly, starting on Mondays. If you can start on Tuesday or even Wednesday, it can save and it is more convenient.
