Is the Paris Pass a good deal?? I had been looking at the London Pass but was told it wasn't and I noticed it went up Feb. 1st. So,i need to Know right away should I get it. It does have the travel included so I think it's a good deal. Please let me know ASAP Thanks
NO , short answer.
Shelly, the Paris pass offers alot but the reality is for the price you will not be able to use all the stuff offered so you end up paying more then just getting a Musuem pass and paying for transport seperately. There are a few options for that, but it helps if you tell us how long you will be in Paris and what area you are staying in( I find in some areas I use metro/bus infrequently as I walk to many sites) ..
We are not going until very end of Sept and into Oct. for about a week. Not sure where we are staying. Ok. I thank you for your comments. I don't want to be frantic to get done everything to make it worth it. Won't get it. Thanks. :)
Shelly if you are going for a week that runs from monday -sunday then there is a transport pass that can be a good value. Its called a navigo decouverte, and its 19 euros for the week , plus a one time 5 euro fee. Its good for unlimited travel on bus or metro. Itsnot worth it though if your week starts on a wed or thurs though obviously. On another note, if you are going in September or early October its a good idea to be looking at booking hotel or apartments soon.. September is still very high season, in fact worse then july or august for vacancies because its trade and fashion show season.
Paris museum pass is definitely a darn good deal.
We used it in August, and not only we just walked right pass people in line and were let in right away everywhere except for the Notre Dame, we also saved a significant amount of euros.
Paris museum pass is not the same as Paris pass. Also I do not understand why people say London pass is not a good deal. Last May we used the London pass in the following and skipped lines: - Tower of London - Westminster Abbey - St. Paul's Cathedral - Windsor Castle - Tower Bridge Exhibition - The Monument - Benjamin Franklin House (it's crap, we just happen to walk by so we went in) - London Bridge Experience - Shakespeare's Globe Theatre Tour - Churchill War Rooms - Guards Museum - Thames River Boat Cruise - Jason's Original Canal Boat Trip We are two 26-32 year old fit couple.
We didn't rush anything, on top of that we visited most of the free museums. We had 4.5 days in London including flights, we bought the 3 day pass and didn't activate it till day 2, and we find ourselves running out of things to do sometimes so just relax at a pub or have 2 hour dinners.
that also included a day of self guided day trip to Stonehenge, Windsor, and old sarum.
so back to you in details. Paris pass is prob not a good idea. Paris museum pass is superb especially if you are a museum and art hitory buff like myself.
http://en.parismuseumpass.com/ As for metro in Paris, just go and buy paris metro carnet, 10 tickets for something like 13 euros.
Thanks everyone for the advice. Yes Pat, I think I'd read that Sept/Oct is busy I started looking but didn't get anything nailed down yet. I'll get on it though. Thanks
Don't get the Paris Pass....it is overpriced. Get the Paris Museum Pass instead. It's much more reasonable.
Yes, I'd planned to do the Paris Museum pass because I'd read that it will save us time and money. Thanks all. :) Can I order it and have it before we leave?
Shelly, don't order it.
There are Paris Tourist Information Center in CDG terminal 1 and terminal 2. if you arrive during normal business hours. They can sell you metro carnet, Paris museum pass, RER ticket to the city and more. The offices at the airport has a lot less traffic than the ones in the city. http://en.parismuseumpass.com/rub-the-pass-points-of-sale-3.htm?cat=3
The office at Terminal 1 is where we got ours. They are open from 7:15am - 10:00pm. I totally understand how you feel, but relax, take a breath, everything will be OK, they are also very very nice and speak fluent English.
Shelly as everyone says, no need to order it ahead, all that does is cost you extra money, and its one more thing to worry about not losing and having packed. Its easy to find at many places once you decide where you are staying people can suggest the closest place to pick it up .
Frank, I'm fine.. breathing..;o) we will be coming from England on the Eurostar and so not at the airport. You also, need to understand that I am planning this 23 day trip for my husband and I. Never been to Europe and I just keep researching so I feel confident about my choices. :) the more I read the better I feel. I appreciate everyones help too!
Where else are you going on? PM me and i can give you whatever link you need mostly through out England, Scotland, France, Netherlands, Belgium, All eastern Europe. We are in Europe twice a year, and Asia twice a year, and I love helping people so shoot me whatever questions you have.
