Paris over New Years

I know this is open ended but does anyone have a recommondation of an apt or hotel to stay in Paris for over the New Year?

We rented an apartment through vrbo.com for our New Years visit for 08/09. There are many websites for apartment rentals in Paris. Most places will charge you "high season" prices, or maybe even more. We were lucky to rent a place that didn't increase the price for the holidays.

I haven't stayed there yet, but I booked my apartment through Vacations in Paris. They have gotten excellent reviews and they are based in the US. I will be there over NYE and apparently apartments and hotels book up quickly so I would make haste!

Try the Paris section of New York Habitat website http://www.nyhabitat.com/paris-apartment.html, I booked through them several times and can only warmly recommend them as the apartments were just great each time + the owners I met were all so helpful and welcoming. I think it's great to be going to Paris for the New Year, I may plan a few days there too just after Christmas... fingers crossed.

oh, and if you're going to Paris this winter, go to Grand Palais to see the Monet exhibition - it is unique and it takes place at the great Palace (Grand Palais), so beautiful!

We stayed in Paris for a month last June and we booked through vrbo. It was a penthouse apartment near the Eiffel Tower. In 2007, I stayed in Paris over the Christmas holidays and I stayed at the Citadines Paris Voltaire Republique in the 11th Arrondissement. It was very close to the Metro and lots of shops. Look at the Citadines Apart'Hotel website for more info.

Jeff, we're taking our 1st trip to Paris between Xmas and New Years, while visiting son and family in western Germany. Our travel agent has booked us into Le Academie: http://www.academiehotel.com/. We wanted something reasonable and quintessentially French. Reviews on websites look good. It's in the French quarter and our travel agent has stayed there. She's never steered us wrong before.

Does Disneyland Paris have a French Quarter like Disneyland Anaheim does? Maybe they are staying a EuroDisney!

Maybe she meant Latin Quarter but got the languages mixed up.

I would suggest staying somewhere fairly close to the Eiffel Tower. It is crazy there on new years eve. My wife and I were there last new years eve and loved it. We stayed in the Marais area but next time will plan on staying in the Latin quarter.
