Paris or museum pass for kids?

I will be in Paris in August for 3 days with my 2 kids (age 7 and 13). I am having trouble determining if the Paris or museum pass is available, needed, or economical for the kids? We plan to see the major sites and museums during our visit. Would they already be covered under my pass? Or do kids get in free/discounted to some of the sites? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi. You do not need passes for your children - especially because at that age they will be with you. Just returned with last week with my 16 yr old ( 6feet 2in tall). He was given a 'fake' passport but I think that was because we asked for it . Most times he just had to show he was with an adult with a museum pass. The only exceptons: Invalades - (Napoleons tomb site ) where he had to get on line for a free ticket and the Arc de Triumph. At the Arc - he was able to go up with me no problem, but the next day with my dad was stopped. Also- not sure about the NotreDame tower and the pass - that had too long a line and so we did not attempt it. May I recommend the small garden behind Notre Dame for a brief stop - it was lovely and has a small playground your 7 year old will enjoy.Also- the boat tour was lovely - you see a lot and can sit thru it! Kids get into most Paris museums for free. Check museums web sites or a guide book for which ones.

Yes - thats correct - but the benefit of the Pass is avoiding the lines. I think people are concerned that the kids cant skip the lines if they dont have a pass. So - kids do not need a Pass to get in free or to skip the lines if they are with a parent with a Pass. Pam - just check if there is a kid limit - i travelled with only one . I would think you can bring both in with just you if you are not traveling with another adult

I was there a couple weeks ago with my 17 year old son. I was prepared to buy a pass for him not knowing he could get in for free. The ticket agent informed me, I did not buy the pass, and he was able to get in for free and skip the lines at all the museums we went to except one (a science musuem). All the others were no problem. I just showed the pass and he was standing next to me and they all let me in with no questions asked. There was one museum that required him to get a printed, FREE ticket so I had to stand in a little line for that but it was no problem. That was at the musical instrument museum.
