I will be in Paris on All Saint's Day (a national holiday) and was wondering to what extent this will effect museum hours/openings. Most of the web sites for major museums don't seem to indicate that they are closed on that date.
Is this just an oversight or will there not be any major touristic challenges on this day beyond the expected store closings?
La Toussaint (All Saint's Day - Nov. 1st) is a national holiday in France. Typically, it will vary with museums regarding closure - the internet will be the best option. Given that this year the holiday falls on a Saturday - many Parisians will probably take the Friday before or the Monday after as an additional holiday. What you will most likely see is that many shops, restaurants, etc may be closed. Also - school holidays tend to begin during this week as well.
Post offices and any banks that are open on Saturdays (there are just a few) will be closed. Some groceries will also close early at times.
I dont know about Paris but I was in Venice last year on Nov.1 and other then the airport most of the car rental agencies were either closed or had very short hours(9-12).
