My daughter and I will be in Paris mid-july. We're looking for something fun to do at night. We both love music. Are there jazz clubs or other live music venues appropriate for teenagers (and tolerable for moms)? Are there any age restrictions in Paris clubs? She's very mature so her behavior won't be an issue.
Legal drinking age in Paris is 18, and some evening live music venues may enforce an ID check (especially if she looks really young).
There are music clubs all over the city and not sure what classifies as "tolerable" for you (only jazz? rock? rap? reggae? classical?). It might help if you post what section of Paris you'll be staying in Otherwise, read through "Pariscope" or "Time Out: Paris" for club listings, see what appeals to you and go.
Thank you for the reply. I actually do like a lot of different types of music: rock, alternative, jazz, classical, european - these are certainly in the realm. Not tolerable for long periods of time are probalby the really loud stuff like head-banging rock or too much rap. I'll check into the suggested magazines - thank you!
I forgot one thing - we'll be staying in one of two places (to be determined this weekend). Either in the Latin Quarter or near the Eiffel Tower.
To add to a prior post -
Pariscope is a great resource - published weekly on Wednesdays and is only 0.40 centimes. The small magazine is available at tabac and presse all over town. However - it is only in French. Another option for you is www.parisinfo.com
This is a great online resource for music, clubs, museums, events etc. Click on the British Flag for the English version.
Thank you Jona - We'll check out both sources.
