We've been to Paris several times and have always stayed on or near Rue Cler. I'm thinking its time for a new neighborhood for us this time around. So can someone steer me towards one that we'll enjoy just as well. TIA
Boy, have you been missing out on things!
St Ouen, south of the the ring road.
Left Bank, south of Saint Germain.
Montparnasse, south of the tower/railroad station.
Jewish Quarter.
Monceau, north of the park.
Marais, maybe.
Anywhere else that is not Rue Cler.
I would look in the 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th.
I've stayed in rue Cler, the Latin Quarter (5th), and the Marais (4th). I have liked all of these neighborhoods; however, I think my favorite is the 4th. There are lots of nice little neighborhood shops and restaurants that don't feel quite as touristy as Rue Cler. There are some nice squares (in particular Place des Vosges). There is a great Sunday food market not too far away (Richard Lenoir-Bastille).
