I will be traveling to Paris in July with my 15 and 18 year olds (both students), my mother(65 years old) and myself (disabled). I was wondering if buying the museum pass is worth it? I have read different sites where disabled, students, elderly and children under 18 can often get into the museums at reduced rates. Should we all buy museum passes? Or perhaps only a few of us should get one. If we do not have a pass, for those places that have a disabilty entrance do we go stand in this line before buying a ticket? Thanks. Sabrina
I can't guarantee that the policy is identical for all places that accept the Paris Museum Pass, but this is what I found when I checked the Musee d'Orsay and the Musee du Louvre Web sites: Children under 18 are free. A disabled person is admitted free, as is that person's helper.
The biggest advantage of the Museum Pass is that it allows you to skip the long entry lines in most (not all) museums. I would check the websites of your museums of interest to see if the disabled can use the same entrance as Pass holders. Seniors, I know for a fact, do not get any automatic entrance preference.
You could google each site you are interested in individually , most have websites.
The Lourve IS free for kids under 18 , bring some id unless child looks young ( so a 15,16, yr old etc may look over 18 so bring id.)
The Cluny is free and so is was the Arc De Triomphe. These are just my experiences with my son.
Eiffel Tower not free, and museum pass not valid there anyways, but I have been told disabled are free and if in a wheelchair can skip lines, with their companions also. If you have a non visible disability then bring some sort of proof( ie my mom was disabled because of a heart condition, but she did not use a wheelchair or a walker untill later in life, so to some people she didn't "look" handicapped.)
Children under 18 are free at Paris Museums. So we only had to buy two adult passes for our family of 5. Well worth buying the passes. If you already have a pass, some museums have a pass entrance. At the Rodin Museum, we went to the front of the line, showed our passes and pointed to us and our three teenage children and they let us in without standing in line. Don't know the cost of a musuem pass for seniors or the disabled. Good luck
