Paris Museum Pass

What is the latest information about whether it is worthwhile to buy a Paris Museum Pass or not? Usually it is worth it to avoid the lines, as well as pay for the entrance fees. However, I have heard that this may no longer be true because of special fees and more lines.

The topic of Paris museum passes was raised earlier. You might try to do a search on the topic or even just scroll through five or six pages. Worth a try!

hi, i got one last march and at that time didnt have any "special fees" or additional lines. I would still pencil it out and see what the cost/benefits are. thats how i decideded. If there are additional lines, for whatever reason, i would not understand why, but depending on how many thing you want to see and what additional lines maybe there, it still could be worth it. just an fyi, there only lines i had were: > louve underground entrance - about 50 people. Longer wait for security. They segregated male/females since women had purses, bags and such. > eiffel tower. again, security lines. then elevator lines. short size lines, but long waits due to lifts. THey only had one lift to the 2nd floor going. Longer lines for tickets! > Long line for Montparnasse Tower due to construction and limited elevators. also, security line long.
> Musee d Orsay. Long security line about 50 people. thats about all of the lines i waited in during march. happy trails.

Security line at St Chapelle as well. No "hidden" fees.

The only "special fees" are for special exhibitions; the Pass covers all regular admission fees. For instance, if you go to Versailles on a day the fountains are running, or if you rent a scooter, that costs extra, but the Pass covers admission to everything else there. You can't bypass security lines with the Pass, only ticket buyer's lines. Only you can do the math and see if you are going to enough places to make the Pass worthwhile. If it's close financially, get it, since you not only get convenience, but you can "pop in" for a few minutes to see if you like a place and then leave if you don't, without worrying about "wasting" the admission fee. For me, the ability to go up the Arc de Triomphe twice without paying "extra" (once by day, once by night) was a nice feature. On the other hand, on one trip I barely broke even, and on another one, I didn't even get it, since I was mostly seeing places not covered. What I liked about the pass was the feeling of freedom. No hesitating at sights to wonder if the entrance fee is "worth it." Being able to pop in to a sight I just happened to be passing, see a bit and then leave, without feeling that I had to see it all to "get my money's worth." It meant leaving the Louvre on a very crowded and noisy afternoon and returning the next evening when it was almost deserted. That's more likely with a 6-day, or even a 4-day pass. A 2-day pass would be too hectic for me, and I wonder if you can really save very much.
