The adults in our group will buy Paris Museum Pass, and we understand the 2 teenagers (15 and 16) don't have to buy the Pass. But reading from Rick Steves' Paris book, some museum require children to line up for free tickets, eg Army Museum, Arc de Triumph. Can anyone tell me what about The Lourve, Versailles, Orsay? Do they have to line up for free tickets? Also, noted that Museum in Centre Pompidou is closed on Tue. But is the ride on escalator open on Tue?
As of last summer, no free ticket was required for children at the Louvre, Versailles, or Orsay. Meaning, that once you got through the security line you did not need to queu up for a free ticket for your children to gain entrance to the venue. You may be asked the age of the child as you enter by the ticket staff.
Si, when the Pompidou is closed it is closed, and that includes the escalator up to the art gallery.
Hi Chuck and Norma, thanks for your feedback. I guess I won't buy the pass for my teenagers. For Centre Pompidou, isn't the Museum just on the 4th and 5th floor? Is there any other things on the other floors that can be accessed by the escalator when the Museum is closed?
You definitely don't need to buy the pass for your teenagers. As of our trip last summer, there was no need for our teens to get free tickets for either the Louvre, Versailles, Musee d'Orsay or the Arc de Triomphe. We walked right up to the front and although we had the kids carry their student i.d.s they were never asked for them. It was very easy. We didn't go to the Army Museum or the Pompidou, so I can't speak to those.
