Paris/Munich in February -- worth it?

I've got the chance to go to Paris (4 nights) then train to Munich for another 3 nights in mid February... however, I just checked the weather and not sure I'd really enjoy it. I am a FL gal and if the weather dips below 50 degrees I am freezing. (Plus, I do not own any warm jackets, boots, etc.) The lodging would be covered and the air will be just about $900. I'd pay for my expenses on the ground. I'm torn. I'd love to go to Paris, but am afraid that the temps will keep me cooped up.

Get yourself a coat and go at least to Paris. Have you been to Paris before? If you get tired of the cold you have so many museums to choose from not to mention cafes. Munich on the other hand might be a better city for you to visit when it's warmer. I live in Europe and have been to both Paris and Munich on numerous occasions, and in my opinion Munich's appeal is being able to enjoy the weather and sit outside in one of the many beer tents. Don't let the weather let you miss out on one of the most magical cities (if not the most) in the world Paris!

I agree, go to Paris. Borrow a coat, buy one second-hand, or splurge on a new one. Hellooooo, it's PARIS. Get some handwarmers at a sports store (like R.E.I.). You can keep them in your pockets or in your gloves (if they are knit and/or big). The distances between sites aren't that great and most places are heated, so you can alternate indoor/outdoor experiences.

I'm with you on freezing below 50, however.... I've been surprised to learn to layer! This is a great chance for you to pack light and see how little you really need for a good trip. There is a very good recent thread on how to pack light for winter. That said, what you need is layers:maybe 3. Start with silk longjohns ( cheap on the internet if you search and don;t buy from big names), a longsleeve shirt, then a sweater and your coat. Two sweaters ( wool or cashmere), 2 pair pants, 4 shirts, some wool socks, hat, gloves, warm scarf for your neck. And the borrowed coat- I like down.
A huge advantage to these 2 cities is their subway/metro system. Go somewhere, walk a couple of blocks, jump on the subway for your next destination. You may get cold but you'll warm up. It sounds FUN!

Hello Donna
I agree with everyone who has posted but I had to put in my two cents! My very first trip to Europe was Paris in February. Cold, but not unbearable. My husband and I are Floridians! You don't need to buy the most expensive coat, gloves etc and just layer. Nothing like Paris, you'll be so glad you did.
