OK - I've read (and re-read!) the guidebooks and FAQs and I see that most museums are closed on Mondays in Paris in April. I'm trying to go well prepared, and factoring in the weather, we were going to adapt our schedule with the weather in mind - meaning we'd hit the musuems if there is sustained rain. I'm wondering if any travellers out there have any good ideas for a Monday in Paris when it RAINS and the museums are closed... Would love to hear what you did! Merci!
The Cluny and l'Orangerie Museums are open on Monday.
Since it will be high on your list, the National Maritime Museum closes on Tuesday.
Well, as noted above you could go to the Louvre, the Cluny or the Orangerie, or you could take a 20 minute bus ride from La Defense to Chateau Malmaison. The Musee André-Jacquemart is open 365 days of the year, and the Centre Pompidou is open Mondays, closed Tuesdays. That should be enough to keep you busy on a rainy Monday. Or even a sunny one.
Wow - Thank you all for the great ideas (and prompt replies!) I feel better prepared - Merci beaucoup!

Or, you could do as I did today and get lost for hours in the rain -- but that only works if you can't read a map. Incidentally, Google tells me there will be NO RAIN on Monday or Tuesday... good luck and have fun.
Just carry an umbrella with you. We've been here a week and it has rained some for 6 days. It will rain, then stop, then rain again, etc, etc. Mostly an annoyance, but not something to keep you indoors. You can still do great sightseeing -- although it screws up your photo ops. Schedules are great, but please don't live and die by them. Spontaneity is very underrated -- you can discover lots of fun and/or beautiful things just by wandering around whenever your schedule goes awry. Flexibility is the key to successful travel.
Paris...rain...6 days out of 7!Those are good thoughts, Janis.
Our "rainy day plans" for later this month include exploring some of the 19th century covered passages and galleries.
Here is one link. Someone recently posted a message to me with a better link, I believe, but this would get you started, if you're interested.
