Paris Metro system - lack of escalator/elevator?

I'm going to Paris with my 2 years old son and I've heard that the lack of escalator or elevator is pretty common at most metro stops in Paris. What options do I have, other than taking the taxi or asking for help all the time? How do the Parisians deal with this?

There is a very good bus system in Paris, and you see many mothers with babies in strollers on the buses.

The link to ParisAccess does absolutely nothing for the metro system. Infomobi.com does.

The following gets you straight to the infomobi metro information: http://infomobi.com/page5.php.

I became pretty adept at traveling the subways with a two year old. Don't fret, carry a backpack and bring an umbrella stroller so you can quickly collapse it and carry your boy up the steps need be. The Paris Metro is so convenient - don't skip it because you are worried about lack of escalators - I found them better than subways in Boston or NYC. I would rather deal with subways than putting a little one in a taxi unsecured.

I use an electric scooter, so the Metro is out. We do the bus and love it. Free sightseeing tour every time we ride. Easy on and off. Load at the back of the bus, where the stroller area is. Validate your ticket there, in the machine. On older bus, you might have to walk to the front to validate ticket. You can load in the front, but if the bus is full, it is really hard to get down the isle.

With a toddler, I'd vote for the bus. Not because a toddler won't have the energy for all of the loooong tunnels and steps in the Metro, but because, if said toddler is in a poopy mood and dragging, YOU might not have the energy to negotiate them!

That being said, the Metro is a cheap and fast and excellnt way to get around - but on the bus you have no hikes through tunnels, there is sightseeing along the way, and the buses tend to be frequented by elderly folks - the "doting grandma and grandpa" type for whom a toddler is an invitation for a quick chat - so bonus - you'll meet some locals!
