18 rue montmartre 75001 PARIS
Good location?
I think the first number of that Paris zip code (not sure what they call them in Paris) indicates the 7th arrondissement. That is an excellent location--in the Eiffel Tower area.
Actually, it's the last 2 digits that list the arrondissement in Paris....75 indicates Paris itself. So the location is in the 1st arrondissement just north of the busy Chatelet-Des Halls RER-Metro station, and four blocks north of the Louvre. A nice spot for a hotel, but the streets are busy there.
David -
The 1st arrondissement is considered to be the geographic centre of Paris. It is also considered "Tourist Haven". You will be close to the Louvre, Palais Royale, Les Halles are all in the area.
Rue Montmartre is a larger street but not a main street - your closest Metro will be Etienne Marcel (ligne 4).
This is a pretty area - very busy with business. You are within walking distance or short metro to a nice church (Eglise Saint Eustache) - typical cathedral for the are. There is also a park of sorts nearby close to the Bourse de Commerce. Rue Saint Honore will be your best bet for shops and restaurants (it parallels Rue Rivoli).

Hi David, Tom's Guide to Paris [link above] has a good section on the relative merits of Paris neighborhoods. Eighteen rue Montmartre sounds very cool to me.
bon voyage! ... p.
