We're thinking of getting Le Passport for Versailles, but I thought I read somewhere that it no longer includes the train from Paris. Rick's book says you have to buy it at the train station in order for it to include the train. Can anyone confirm either of these? Thanks.
There used to be a pass called the Forfait Loisirs,, you could buy it for Versailles and it included admission and train , it no longer exists. You can now buy tickets for Versailles online, you should check their website to confirm( it is in english and gives you alot of information).
You can also use a Museum Pass to gain admission to Versailles, and that will allow you to line skip there. The train ticket is only about 6 euros( return) so if you plan on visiting museums in Paris, consider this combo.
Correct, that all-inclusive train/admission pass is no longer available. What we have done is buy our round-trip train tickets in Paris, then bought the Versailles admission ticket at the Tourist Information center (which had a much shorter line than at the Palace the day we went), which is located between the Versailles train station and the Palace. Or, as Pat suggests, buy your tickets on-line (if you know what day you plan to go) or get the Museum Pass.
That's what I thought. We'll probably buy them online. Thanks for the info. :-)
I think I'll get mine at the Tourist office in Versailles. I'm going in rainy season (April) and if I buy in advance for a specific date, might end up having to go on a very rainy day!
