Is the Jules Verne Resturant at the E. Tower worth it? How far in advance to you have to make reservations?
I have not eaten there, and wouldn't, because in my opinion at $200+/person for dinner it's significantly over-priced for the quality of food on the plate. You can eat in other one star Michelin restaurants in the 7th for more like $80/person.This is just one opinion. I'm guessing they're full so they must be doing something right. My issue is that someone knows, before they pay the $200/person, that they can eat at other Michelin one stars in Paris for way less. Some customers have reported, here, being disappointed that as tourists (or for whatever reason) they didn't get a table with a good view. It may be that you have to be a regular, or otherwise "in the know" to get the best view tables. Obviously you can get the view elsewhere on the Tower for a lot less than $200/person.
Well, the restaurant does have one Michelin star. So not the highest quality, but that certainly puts it in a select group of quality restaurants, even in Paris.
You can see some positive reviews on it at this site but I think the best answer is that you will be going there for the novelty of eating on the Eiffel tower - you could probably get a better meal on the ground for the same price.
You can eat at Jules Verne for $215/person (they have apparently raised their prices after the management changes of the last year, this is the low end of the menu price listed in the current Guide Michelin). Or you can eat at Auguste, same one Michelin star, same quality of food on the plate (in Michelin's opinion) and same 7th arr, for $80/person. That's what I meant in my first reply. You can eat at some 3-star Michelin restaurants for $215/person.
Ignore the naysayers. It is a splurge, but if it's something you really want to do, go for it. We've eaten at the Jules Verne twice. Because it is pricey, I recommend going there for lunch, it costs less (they offer a prix fixe menu). We thought it was worth the experience. Great food, view, and ambiance. They have a website. Check it out. If you decide to go, when you make your reservation ask for a window table with a view of Notre Dame. The other room's views are not as familiar, but still nice. Also, if you want to spend more time walking around that level, when you get ready to leave, ask to exit at that level, so you can walk around and then take the outdoor elevator down. The Jules Verne elevator is private and will go back to the the ground floor only. Have a great trip.
