Paris in February

I'll be in Paris for just one night in early February at the end of a Riviera trip. I have a place booked in the Latin Quarter off Blvd St. Germain that I've stayed before, but then I realized that the Louvre will be open late on the night I'll be there. I've been to Paris twice but haven't visited the Louvre, so thought it would be a good time in the winter when I'd rather not be walking around too much by myself at night. Can anyone recommend a place to stay near the Louvre on a budget? I'm used to hostels and one-stars with bathrooms down the hall, so I don't need anything fancy! 80-100 USD a night (or less!) if that's even possible :-) (And I did check, I can cancel my other hotel up to 24 hours in advance). Thanks!

I agree with Chani. If you know the neighborhood and like the hotel, I don't think you will need to change it just to be closer to the Louvre. Walking from there to the Latin Quarter at night should be a lovely stroll, and safe as houses! And you can always jump a bus if you are footsore.

You don't really need to be right by the Louvre - - a Latin Qtr location will be fine - - Paris is very active into the evenings and you will be fine walking or using bus or metro to go to the Louvre and elsewhere. From blvd St Germain, it would be approx 20-30 minutes walking to the Louvre. But if you are really uncertain you could look into Hotel Henri IV on place Dauphine (on the Ile de Cite). I don't think you'll find any truly budget hotels just next to the Louvre.

The Paris is lovely after dark - all lit up. I think you will enjoy the walk back to the Latin Quarter. But if you feel uneasy, just take a taxi. I doubt there's much budget accommodation around the Louvre.
