Paris in early March

My husband and I will be in Paris for our first time. We decided to stay a week there since there is so much to do. However, we would like to maybe squeeze in a day trip or two. Versailles of couse is on our list. I don't know if Giverny will be ok in early March. Would lobe to get some recommendations.

Monet's gardens at Giverny don't open until the end of March. As you said, there is a lot to do in Paris. Besides Versailles I wouldn't make any definite day trip plans until you know that you've seen everything in Paris you want to see. You might want to consider looking into the Paris Greeter program. There is no cost unless you want to donate to their program. You fill out an online application several weeks before your trip and state what things are of Interest to you from the various categories they offer. They then try to match you up with a volunteer guide. I did this a couple of years ago, and was given a great tour of the Marais. I had been to that area on previous trips to Paris, but I learned so much more having someone who was raised there explaining things.

I agree with Andrea. There's nothing wrong with researching daytrip options and seeing which ones appeal to you most. But don't commit to any until you see how your time in Paris itself is going.

Thank yiu so much. That is a good idea. We are looking at apartment options through vrbo. We aee considering Latin Quarter, Marais, Arr 1st. They all seem to be convenient. My husband and I love to walk and explore. We take metro only if have to. Is there something that makes one better than the other. We are 50 years old.

I prefer to rent apartments. You can often find them for less than a hotel, you have more space and have the ability to prepare some of your meals if desired. That is a big money saver right there. A washer and dryer is a bonus. I think the 4th, 5th & 6th arrondissements are the most central, the closer to the river the better. I have rented vrbo #5967 in the 5th and highly recommend it.

It looks like a wonderful place. However, that is a two bedroom. It is only my husband and I. We need a one bedroom.

Dont know your budget, but this place is lovely, its only a studio .. but the view is amazing, the location is great. The building has three other apartments all owned by same agency/fellow and they are nice( I have been inside two of them and they are just as pictured. Check out Parisbestlodge.. and we stayed in the Esmeralda.. loved it, but you do have a flight of steep steps to get to it,,( just one flight, there is an elevator to the level below) but the other apartments have no real stairs to deal with.
