Three of us are going to Paris Dec 3. Should we expect Christmas lights, Christmas markets? This will be our first trip to Paris so we're pretty excited.
Someone else on the Helpline recommended this website which might be helpful to you:
Yes, Paris decks itself out in Christmas lights every year, although I could not say when they go up. I found the lighting much more stylish than the gaudy displays often seen in the US... ie, no light-up Santas, Frostys or giant inflatable snow globes.
Rue Cler had some Christmas stalls when I was there. This was the only market I saw, but probably not the only one in Paris.
I arrived Dec 4th last year and Christmas markets were open, and things were decorated for the holidays. Enjoy!
Thanks to all who responded. We'll certainly enjoy the season.
