We are traveling to Paris with our son 18 for 3 days and want to go south to Provence area. Does anyone have a suggested itinerary for efficient use of our time?
I think more information is needed before anyone can offer a reasonable suggestion. When do you leave? How long is the trip? Do you fly home out of Paris or Nice? Are you and your son interested in ancient history? Are you interested in little villages? Do you want to do this exclusively with trains, or are you open to driving for part of it?
Do you wish to go directly to Provence from Paris? Do you want to see any other areas...Loire valley, Beaune, the Camargue south of Arles, other areas???? We have enjoyed seeing Beaune and the vineyards around it. What time of year will you be there? There are several places where you can do tastings. We liked driving Gorges of the Ardeche last spring. The scenery was great. The Roman ruins at Orange and Vaison de Romaine in the northern part of Provence were very interesting. We love the Luberon area and the small towns. What about Avignon, Arles and Aix-en-Provence? Will you be flying from Nice? What is the total length of your trip? We all have our own favorite areas so it really depends on what YOU want to do. Whatever you choose, enjoy!
