Paris Hotels with Air

My husband and I are going to Paris the last week in May and I am having a hard time finding hotels/ or b&b. My husband gets hot just sitting still in the winter time so his requirement is air-conditioning. Our other requirements include: close to the sites and under $200 per night. We have been researching for a few months now and I am beginning to get worried about booking a hotel. Please send ANY help our way!!! Thanks in advance!

Stay at an Ibis hotel. We did this during a heat spell in July in Paris and were so very grateful to come in at the end of the evening to a cool room, as we were drenched with sweat. The Ibis hotels are cheap too. They may not have a lot of charm, but I spend zero time in my hotel except for sleeping, so don't really care about the charm aspect.

I've been looking at the Londres St-Honore. Has anyone heard of it?
I also looked at the Ibis near the Eiffel Tower. It looks great but I wonder about the distance from all of the other sights. I just remember staying down my Notre Dame on my last visit and how far it was up to the Eiffel Tower. What was your perception of walking distances?

We were at the Ibis by Gare du Nord. Just hopped on the Metro to go to the sites we wanted to see.

Air conditioning is like parking, most places that have it will flaunt it in their write-up. From Notre Dame to the Eiffel Tower is a fourty-five minute walk for most folks (closer to an hour if you go along the river). I hump along pretty fast and it takes me a good half hour with short cuts - - figure it's three miles or a bit less. Interesting once or twice, especially at night, but a bit far for a daily trudge. Hotels of the Campanile chain are scattered around town. Some of them have air conditioning. Like Jo said, Ibis and others of the Accor chains also tend to have air conditioning.

OK, I've been looking at Hotel St-Honore by the Louvre. They had one room left and it had air...so I booked it! If anyone has stayed there, seen the hotel, knows anything, please let me know if I need to change hotels. It was a great deal and sometimes I feel things are too good to be true. know rooms are small but we'll only be sleeping and showering there, no time wasted watching t.v. We can do that at home :-)

Have you checked hotels on TripAdvisor.com? I recommend doing that. The hotel you've booked gets very bad reviews.

Make sure they turn on the air in May - some who advertise air say they only turn it on in the summer. And May is not summer....Also, it could be quite cool and in quite a few of the older places the windows open and in May the nights will still be cool.

"OK, I've been looking at Hotel St-Honore by the Louvre." That's the hotel I checked on TripAdvisor per what you wrote. I'm glad that's not the one you booked!

If you are concerned about bugs or dirty hotels, don't travel in the States.

Proceed cautiously...one of our worst (hottest) nights was at an Ibis at CDG airport. In August. Awake all night before our flight. No A/C that could be felt, and those newer hotels don't have those large windows that can be opened up :-( (my husband - in particular - and I both like our A/C, too!) And ditto on the others - the hotels WITH A/C will brag, but that doesn't mean it will be on while YOU'RE there! And maybe it'll be 'on', but not 'on' like this Texan girl likes!!! A soft 'whisper' has been our A/C at some hotels...So be prepared for anything! We don't stay particularly close to the sites, so I can't help you with a specific recommendation...Good Luck!

Had a room in a charming hotel in the Latin quarter with A/C.... but we were on the top floor with the sun beating down on the roof very warm! We should have moved to a lower floor but we had windows on both sides so opened those, was about the same temp even at night it was cooler outside. Take into consideration how many posts a reviewer on Trip Advisor has made, before you accept their viewpoint. Sometimes it is worth your while to read their other reviews to learn whether they are well traveled or generally positive about hotels. One review means I don't believe them.
BTW, Eileen, the Holiday Inn at CDG has great AC, even if you wear maroon.

If you are going to be there for a week have you considered an apartment? Sometimes vacationinparis.com has last minute rentals. They are great to work with and you would have the keys before you left the states.

We will be in London for 4 nights and Paris for 5 nights (but we have already booked a hotel for Paris).
Does renting an apartment or studio save money? Any suggestions of apartments if it does?
