We are planning a vacation for end of summer 2009, and was wondering if anyone has suggestions as to a hotel in the Rue Cler area that can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children ages 2 1/2 and 4 1/2. Tried Hotel Levegue and they cannot do it.
Thanks
Don
Have you read Rick Steves book on Paris yet? If not, do so. It has lots of suggestions.
Why not get an apartment instead? You don't necessarily have to rent them by the week...some are available on a nightly basis.
And don't just limit yourself to the Rue Cler neighborhood (which I think is what happens with WAY too many people who read/watch Rick Steves). Rue Cler is a lovely area, but the Paris Metro (while huge) is easy to figure out. As long as you are within walking distance to a Metro stop, you're good to go.
I will second the suggestion to look for an apartment. My husband and I stayed in a hotel around the corner from Rue Cler in 2006. For our upcoming trip with our daughter later this year we have rented a 1 bedroom apartment. Not only will we have more room than we would in a cramped hotel room, we will have a kitchen. That should help save money on food. And the best part is that it is going to cost us much less than a hotel. We decided to stay in the 5th (Latin Quarter), much closer to more activities. Our 1 bedroom apartment with a view of Notre Dame is only going to be $145 per night. I found it on VRBO, where some rentals are in euros and some in dollars. There are other apartment rental sites that you pay in dollars. With the lousy exchange rate I figure the more I pay for in dollars the better off I will be!
Ditto. If you're staying more than a few days, get an apartment. I'm renting a one bedroom with 3 convertibles in the Living area for our family of 5 (vacationinparis). And my brother has a studio (VRBO). Both are within a few blocks of rue Cler.
Thank you for the tips on the rentals. The web site is great and we found many flats that meet our requirements
