I am staying in Paris for 4 nights. I am thinking we would like to stay in the 10'eme because it is close to the train station and in the middle of many Paris activties. Does anyone have any recommendations of budget hotels in the area and/or thoughts about the 10'eme Many thanks

Stay closer to Place de la Republique rather than the train station. It's a lively neighborhood, less touristy - although because there are a lot of theaters in the neighborhood so tour buses arrive at night. The Canal St. Martin is close by - great for picnics. It's a short walk to the Marais and the hip areas of Belleville.
A great budget - and I mean budget - hotel is the Hotel de Nevers just south of Republique. Doubles with bath are 55 Euro (or so). It's clean and friendly nonetheless.
