We will in Paris for 1 night before we head off to Belgium and the Netherlands. We fly into Charles de Galles in the morning and need to catch a train the next afternoon. Suggestions for where to stay location wise? We will need to drop off our things and hit the town right away. We are looking for something that is reasonably priced for 2 people. Would also love suggestions for hotels $100-$180 range for our return flight home (we leave early morning). Thank you! We are there in March.
I'd stay near the train station from which you will be leaving Paris, if you like the area, as there are several train stations. Find out and let us know which station. For the return, I've stayed in a chain hotel near the airport the night before for a very early morning flight, and have also stayed one more night in Paris. CDG is incredibly crowded and it was easier traveling with family to sleep in for another hour, instead of taking an early morning taxi or bus or train.
I guess you will be leaving by train from the Gare du Nord so try to book a room at the Ibis hotel not far from there and the Ibis hotel which is at CDG for your return. Definitely within your budget and decent (though chain) hotels.
Completely agree with Norma, the Ibis chain is the simplest. One near Gare du Nord for the night before leaving for Belgium and the Netherlands, and the Ibis terminal 3 for the night before the flight. There are several Ibis at CDG, but the one in terminal 3 is in the airport. You may need to take the shuttle train to a different terminal in the airport in the morning, but that is a simple procdure.
I did priceline 5 stars for CDG and for under &110 usd got the Sheraton Terminal 2. I went super cheap and named my price an it worked out. I have stayedat the Ibis chain and it is OK too. I would stay as close to a metro stop as possible for convience. What you want to do/see in paris may be a consideration. I would suggest the St.Michel RER/Metro stop.
I don't care for areas around train stations unless you are super close; ie across the street. Look for reviews about the hotels before booking and see if they will fit your needs. Happy travels
Pab, they only have the one night in Paris, so being near the Gare du Nord will be convenient, and really the area is lively and perfectly fine for one night. Obviously, they will be sightseeing most of the time anyway, and not hanging about near the station.
Wow! Thank you so much for all your expertise! I love the kindness of strangers and fellow travelers. This is my honeymoon and my husband's first trip to Europe. We may have more than 1 day in Paris but we don't want to schedule too much since we want to live in the moment. But I thought if we reserved our first night - since we are leaving for Belgium and Netherlands to meet a friend - and our last night for convenience. You are amazing! Thank you! Travel on!!!
