hi there
my fiance and i are planning our honeymoon and are looking for a reasonably priced hotel with some character/charm. Can anyone recommend something in the 95 - 120 euro range? or are we totally out to lunch?
For character and charm within your price range, try:
Hotel Chopin, Paris or Hotel-Hospitel (Hotel Dieu) Paris.
I think hotel minerve in the latin quarter was in that price range- we sprung for their more delux double room , which was well worth it-larger with alot of charm. check their website
erin,
You might check the France 2009 or Paris 2009 Guidebooks, as they contains listings for LOTS of Hotels in various regions of Paris, and the prices are listed. That will allow you to choose not only the area you want to stay but also the price range.
A few suggestions for you to look at (all in the Rue Cler area):
- Hotel du Champs de Mars
Grand Hotel Leveque
Hotel Duquesne Eiffel
I like the character of the Rue Cler area, so stay there. It's a bit "touristy" but has lots of nice restaurants, is close to the Eiffel Tower (walking distance) and has good access to the Metro (the Ecole Militaire station) for visiting other sights in Paris.
Congratulations and happy travels in Paris!
The Hotel Saint-Pierre..directly across the street from the medical school in the heart of the latin quarter...5-minute walk to the Notre Dame.
We just returned yesterday and had a WONDERFUL stay at Hotel Leveque. Great location, very clean, incredibly nice and helpful staff - perfect place for budget conscious travelers!
Our first time to Paris we stayed at the Hotel Porte Doree. Its owned by an ex Pat American, charming, and smoke free. All rooms are different, and have private baths. Its also close to a metro, and a wonderful bakery!
The next time we went, we stayed in an apartment and lived like a Parian for a week, and paid 111 euros per day. The best part of the apartment is we were able to shop at the local market, enjoy as a local would, and also packed less as we could wash our clothes there.
I agree with one of the previous posts- the Chopin is nice and full of character. I just stayed at the sister hotel last year, called the Hotel de la Bretonnerie. I think we paid 130 Euros for our room. I just looked on their website, it looks like prices range 120 to 165 euros in high season so I guess it depends on when you go.
