Paris hotel suggestions for a family of four?

My family, consisting of me, my wife, and our two daughters, age 7 and 9, will be staying in Paris August 8-11 of 2011. I'm looking for suggestions for hotel accommodations. We'd like to be centrally located, preferrably Left Bank. My wife and I usually stay at 2 or 3 star hotels, so it doesn't have to be too fancy. We stayed just off of Rue Cler last time we were in town, and think the girls would like this area as well, since it's not a loud/late part of town. I guess I'd also like to ask: What have people done in the past room-wise? Most hotels have smaller rooms and I'm seeing some that have a cap at one child per room. My girls are too young to be in a room by themselves, unless it's something like two adjoining rooms. Has anyone found a hotel that has a room that will hold 4 and is not too expensive? Thanks in advance, Mike Murray

Mike: The Hotel Castex has double rooms connected by a bathroom, which makes a kind of family suite. It is on the Right Bank, and it may be too expensive for your budget, but it wouldn't hurt to check out their website and perhaps send them an email as they often run unadvertised discounts.

When we took our daughters to Paris we rented an apartment from VacationInParis.com. They have apartments all over Paris, and a 3 night minimum so that would work for you. The one-bedroom "sleeps 4" apartments are mostly in the range of $140 to $180 a night, some especially nice ones are higher. There are no extra charges and you pay by credit card in dollars, so it is just as easy as staying in a hotel, although no reception desk or concierge. We had the Eiffel Hideaway, just a block from Rue Cler. One bedroom and a daybed\trundlebed in the living room for the girls. One full bath and one half bath. Kitchen is small but functional. Dad spoiled the girls by walking up the bakery a block away each morning for fresh chocolate croissants. This apartment is listed at $155 per night. And there are of course many more.
