Paris hotel suggestions

On the www.paris35.com site we found several hotels at 25E/p/n. One was Hotel Balladins Rosny in the Rosny Sous Bois area of metro Paris. Does anybody know of this Hotel? How does one find the various residential areas of metro Paris like Rosny Sous Bois area? We would like to stay at a one star (save) hotel in Paris where we can easily access the downtown area (via Metro) and train trips to Versailies and Fontainebleau. Suggestions? We would also need to have suggestions on traveling via train from Amboise (where we will drop off our car rental) to Paris. Which station should we travel to in order to get to this type of hotel? Additionally after 4 days (5/14/09) we need to get back to CDG airport for our flight to Chicago and onto Denver. Thanks, Dorsey

Hi,

My wife and I were in Paris last year and stayed in the Hotel Mistral, it was very clean and reasonably priced. We would have stayed there again this year, but we found Vacation In Paris... And wish we had found it last year! An apartment is definitely the way to go, if we ever hit Paris again we'll always choose an apartment.

This past September we stayed in the Eiffel Tower Lookout, http://www.vacationinparis.com/apts/id_154.htm
and it was ever bit what it looks like in the pictures, it seemed too good to be true (to us anyway) but it wasn't, it could not have been more perfect, we would stay there again in a second and recommend it to parents, grandparents, anyone. I really can't say enough good things about the apartment or Vacation In Paris.

It's also very easily accessible, but really, anywhere in Paris is because the Metro system is fantastic, and Versailles is unbelievable, we've gone on both our Paris trips.

Whatever you choose, you'll have a great time, but Vacation In Paris is the only way to go for us from now on.

Dorsey, the hotel you have found looks perfectly fine and the price is excellent, but you will be way out in the suburbs, and not a very interesting suburb, at that, by the look of it. If you can possibly find a hotel you can afford nearer to, or in, Paris, I urge you to do so. I personally cannot tell you of one for less than 70 euro a night for a double ensuite, (2 star) but maybe someone else can.

The trains from Amboise come into Gare d'Austerlitz. I don't understand your question about which station you should travel to. As for getting to CDG from Paris, if you do a search on this site, you will find lots of info on that, or you can google it.

Dorsey: We've rented outside of Paris in the burbs and also used Vacation In Paris to rent an apartment in the city for 5 nights. There's no comparison! When you're outside of the city you waste a lot of time on trains/buses/metros traveling. Vacation In Paris was well worth the extra money (we stayed in the 7th district, Classique Apartment); we walked across the street for our warm baguette each day, we were right on the bus #69 route (the bus that takes you to all the major sites), we walked to the Orangerie, the Eiffel Tower and Les Invalides. This was our 3rd trip to Paris and when we go again I'll rent again from Vacation In Paris.

If you are looking for a room for 50 euros a night try looking at Hotel Perfect , it is IN Paris , close to many things. Once you are IN Paris you are never far from the metro.

Google Hotel Perfect.

I would not choose to stay out in the burbs.

Another option to consider is a house swap. "You stay in their place while they stay in yours."

Cost of accommodation = 0!

This makes sense if you are going to be in Paris for a week or longer. And even more sense if you are coming with kids. (3 or more people in one small room does not equal comfort!)

I live outside of paris and therefore don't need a hotel, though i think it might be fun to stay in one just once...anyhow, Matti has just returned from France and posted www.hotedenevers.com Looks good for price and location. The chain of Balladins is fine....But, sorry, the more i read your question, the more it confuses me...Fontainebleau is "near" Rosny..if you still have the car, but i guess you left that in Amboise..Should perhaps have driven to Versailles and left it there.....Might want to change since your plan is for may 2009.
