Paris Hotel: Narrowed it down to 6, if anyone has one they'd vote for...

After an exorbitant amount of research on this site (from some other posts below), guidebooks, and TripAdvisor, I've narrowed my choices of Paris hotel down to 6. For anyone who has read my earlier posts, I'm no longer traveling by myself as my boyfriend will be coming with me. I'll be in Paris for 5 nights. We're in our mid-20s and want to spend half the time walking to various sites and the other half just sitting at cafes and wandering about. Nightlife close to my hotel is important. All of these have availability, private bathrooms, and AC - please let me know which you would pick, mainly based on how nice the hotel is and where it is located - I'm having a bit of trouble keeping track of the arrondissements and how far it is to walk to various places. Thank you SO much for letting me know which of these you would pick!

1) Hotel Tourisme (66, Av. de la Motte-Picquet; about a block from the Eiffel Tower): 85 Euros, corner double room with bathtub

2) Le Relais du Marais (76 Rue De Turbigo; Marais area): 87 Euros, standard double room with shower

3) Grand Hotel Leveque (29 rue Cler; Rue Cler area): 90 Euros, standard double room with shower facing back of hotel not Rue Cler - I heard it can smell like cheese in the summer from the fromagerie close by??

4) Hotel des Mines (125, Boulevard Saint Michel; Latin Quarter): 85 Euros, double room with bath

5) Hotel Residence Monge (55, rue Monge; close to Notre Dame): 88 Euros for small double room with shower, 100 Euros for larger room with bath

6) Atel Louvre Marsoiller Opera (13, rue Marsollier; 5 min walk from Louvre): 100 Euros for double room with shower

Julia, I would opt for Le Relais du Marais simply because friends say they would take rooms in no other place... that's enough for me. bon voyage ! P.

I tried to find the email address of Hotel Relais du Marais via Google, etc. Evidently, the hotel has chosen not to communicate via email... My experience with such situations is that you will not receive a prompt, if any, written response to your written inquiry. It appears you must use your phone - or wait until you arrive ... I Wish you All the Best, P.

For your needs, I would recommend staying in the Marais or the Latin Quarter. Hotel Leveque, my usual base in Paris, works better for people older than yourselves. I believe the street rooms there may be exposed to cheese fumes when windows are opened. The rear rooms have only a view of the back of an apartment building, but would be quieter and free of cheese smells (even with the window open).

I usually stay in the rue Cler area & there's not much night life except for the cafes. it's a quiet area which is why I like it. I'm 40 yrs older than you. I understand that the Marais area has more street life & may be more to your liking. The leveque is on a market street & has a quiet charm.

We stayed at the Hotel Sevigne in the Marais district and foud it to be wonderful. It's easy walking distance to the Bastille, Pompadou Centre, Notre Dame, the Louvre and the rooms were very nice. Breakfast was great and low cost.
