Paris Hotel Luxembourg area

You might try the Hotel Mon Plaisir, in Strassen, a close-in suburb. The hotel is not fancy, but the location and price are good, there is free parking, and the proprietress is an interesting woman.

I believe Shelley's looking for a hotel in the Luxembourg area in Paris and not in the country Luxembourg ! I haven't been to those hotels, but according to what I've read online, the hotel des balcons seem nicer and the location is perfect !

Shelley, if you are speaking of the Hotel Luxembourg Parc at 42 Rue Vaugirard, I would recommend it for the location across the street from the Luxembourg Gardens/Museum and close proximity to St. Sulpice Church. I was a guest of the hotel in April, 2013 for 3 nights with a friend. Comparable in ranking to our other hotels, we both agreed the beds and linens were the most comfortable on our trip to Paris/Italy. The marble bathroom with shower in tub was spacious. The hotel and room was very clean and had charm. Although the lobby is small, it has a bar in a relaxed setting. There is a separate room with computer available also. The staff was helpful and friendly at all times. We sought assistance with early arrival baggage storage,restaurant recommendations in the area, and taxi reservations to the airport-all requests handled efficiently, patiently and with a smile. Breakfast at this hotel is continental or full menu. We would not recommend ordering eggs (oily) or hot chocolate (powdered & weak, would recommend Angelina's instead), but continental was fine. I recommend instead going nearby to Gerard Mulot for a morning start. I booked via
e-mail request, not through direct online booking, and do not remember if there was a price difference. Hope this helps!
