Stayed at the Hotel Domnique on our last trip, which was about seven years ago and while the rooms were on the small side, the staff was very helpful and the price was right. We really liked the area, especially the shops and cafe's along Rue Cler but have heard that the Dominique is a bit less desirerable now. Current reviews would be appreciated, along with suggestions on other hotels in the general area.
cary, Your best bet to find a Hotel in that area that precisely fits your criteria in terms of comfort and price, would be to check the France or Paris Guidebooks. A few suggestions you could consider: > Hotel Duquesne Eiffel > Hotel Muguet Check their respective websites to see whether they might work for you. Happy travels!
Go to www.heart-of-paris-hotels.com, click on the Eiffel Tower icon and Voila. Click on each hotel and check out their websites. Some have internet discounts. We've stayed at the Duquesne Eiffel and splurged for an upper room with a view of the ET. Priceless. We don't stay in the 7e any more but prefer in the 5e or 6e. Remember, all hotel rooms short of an expensive suite are small by North American standards. Besides, don't spend time in the hotel except for sleeping. It's Paris after all!! Cheers, :)
On my 2008 Rick Steves' Tour we stayed in the Hotel de Londres Eiffel......just a five minute walk to the Eiffel Tower. Our room was up the spiral stairs after you go through the Breakfast Room. We had a choice of two rooms and this was a great pick for two of us. Loved the greeting each morning when we came down for the wonderful breakfast buffet. Very friendly staff. I would go back again with or without Rick's Tour. Website: www.londres-eiffel.com
