Paris hotel help

We are traveling in April and have an apartment booked for seven days the end of April in the 1st. We are now thinking of coming into Paris three days earlier and read through RS that the Hotel Grandes Ecoles was starred. They have no rooms - any help we can get to get booked somewhere would be appreciated.

If you haven't already, I suggest you try Booking.com to identify and perhaps book a place to stay. After you get the results for your dates, you can filter them in all kinds of ways using the options down the left side of the page, including by district. Then you can sort them (across the top of the results) the way that is more important to you. Have fun!

Have you tried laterooms.com or hotwire.com or other booking sites? Also, look at accor.com. It is a hotel chair than has lots of hotels in Paris.

Don't know what your budget is... try Hotel St. Jacques and Hotel du Pantheon, I've stayed at both and like them. My favorite is Hotel de Lutece on Ile St. Louis, my favorite Paris neighborhood. Other good ones there are Hotel des Deux Iles, and Hotel St. Louis en l'Isle.

Go to heart-of-paris-hotels.com. Each area of Paris is on a map with the hotels in each arrondissment highlighted. Click on the hotel icon in an area you like, then email them directly. We like staying in the 4th, 5th, or 6th but all of central Paris is walkable. All of Rick's recommendations are the first to book up but there are MANY other choices.

Rick Steves recommended the Hotel LeVique on the Rue Cler, small room but in GREAT locations! Good Luck Janice

Go to Booking.com or Venere.com. They list tons of hotels and pick one that meets your needs. We have found their description to be reliable. We liked the Hotel Home Latin in the Latin Quarter but that doesn't mean it is what you want.

We concur with Janice, Hotel Le'Veque on Rue Cler. Family and I have stayed numerous times.

I think you are all trying to say " Grand Hotel Leveque" surprising all the interesting variations on spelling here. At least that is how the hotel website spells it. Anyways Lucky, try Hotel Eugenie, excellent location, very central, basic hotel but has a/c and English tv. and mini fridge in room. Also consider Hotel de la Place du Louvre, I have stayed here twice, its right bank, but only 1/2 block from Seine and Pont Neuf, its right by Louvre but on quiet side street, I have stayed in the "Klee" room twice ( each room is named after an artist). Another good choice if on tighter budget is Hotel Diana, great location in 5th , on quieter street but only a block and half from the busy area filled with restaurants , cafes and shops.
Also look at Hotel Le Regent, this is a favorite of mine when I can afford the deluxe rooms( the standard rooms are super small), lovely bathrooms, excellent location in the 6th, nice staff, fridge and a/c of course( I almost always get a hotel that has a mini fridge to store snacks and drinks and I always get hotel with a/c in the summer, in April this won't matter at all though )

Someone in an earlier post mentioned Hotel du Pantheon....it's a great hotel but currently under renovation until the end of June. Try airbnb.com - you can get last minute short-term stays in apartments or private homes for great prices!

Try the Castex hotel in Marais. Very nice hotel in a great area, close to Metro and bus lines and lots of wonderful cafes.
