Paris Hotel Favourites (5th,6th,13th,14th)

Any hotel recommendations roughly midway between Gare Montparnasse and Gare d'Austerlitz in the 100Euro range for a single ensuite?

Usually use the Muguet in the 7th but this trip need proximity to the train stations to make full use of only a day in the city. Arrive AM (Air France Bus near Montparnasse), depart next PM (Austerlitz) and have a few addresses to check out roughly between the stations before I head south.

Hi, We have stayed in the 7th twice. Both times at the Grand Leveque Hotel. Also you might try the Champ Du Mars Hotel in the Rue Cler . Beautiful location close to the Eiffel Tower, Napoleans Tomb and the river.

Thanks J., was actually looking for recommendations in the 5th/6th/etc. for easier access to Gare Montparnasse and Gare d'Austerlitz.

From the dearth of replies, excepting yours, it appears all the 5th/6th fans are keeping their favourites to themselves. Either that or they sleep on a bench in the park......

Thankfully, I got many suggestions from the folks on the Trip Advisor Forum including some PM's with restaurant tips.

hotel du lys is right off Blvd and place st michel near river so excellent location to RER BLUE LINE and other good connections. room rate is about 1oo e for a single. they are a tad aloof/noncommunicative in person at this hotel but since the price includes a rarity little continental breakfast i got over it. kinda quaint place, too. book early they are popular .

Hi Geoff, This is off topic but I was just wondering...do you fly out of Vancouver? My daughter lived for awhile in Powell River and we went to visit. We drove and it seemed to take forever to get there from Vancouver since we had to wait for the two ferries. We really enjoyed it there though. It is so beautiful.

Yes, Andrea, I do fly out of Vancouver (Air Canada points) and get there via Pacific Coastal Airlines out of PR. It's a 25 minute flight, whereas the drive by car or bus is about 6 hours because of the two ferries (and a very twisty road). Did the short flight two weeks ago enroute to Heathrow and with a Pacific Coastal seat sale, only paid $80 each way PR to YVR (south terminal); can't drive it for that and pay for parking at YVR.

It is a truly beautiful place (we retired here 7 years ago from Ontario) where this morning I saw a pod of 3 killer whales going by and later a large group of dolphins. We're only 3 blocks up 'the hill' from the water with a 180 degree ocean view so hard not to see such activity if you're glancing out the window.

Hey, this is a travel website, never off topic when 'selling' a wonderful destination like Powell River. It ain't Paris, but it ain't bad; but then you saw that when visiting your daughter.

Geoff
If you want a particular area, why not consider an apartment?? I paid 11 euros more a night than you and got an apartment with a full kitchen and washer.

Thanks Michelle but unfortunately will only be in Paris for two nites; one at the beginning of my trip, and one at the end. Then it's off to France/Spain Basque country for 10 days for some WW2 research I'm doing.
