Paris Hotel: Family of 5

With that many, you are better off with an apartment rental - more space, access to kitchen. Many apartments can be rented for less than 1 week if you plan to be in Paris for only a short time. You'd need at least 2 hotel rooms or a suite to fit 5 - and it will likely be much smaller than what you are used to - even a quad room with a rollaway bed for the youngest (if you can find it) will be extremely tight quarters.

Try homelidays.com, a site where owners post their rentals, so you communicated directly to them. Many offer stays of less than a week, depending on when you plan to travel. Other than that, there's an Ibis hotel at Place Cambronne that offers some pretty good rates. You'd need two rooms, but, depending on when you go, it could still be more affordable than one giant room or two rooms at most other hotels.

Kevin, have you tried hotwire.com? I used it for London and found great deals. This June I got a 3 star near LHR for $89 (dollars, not pounds or euros).

Even though you don't know the hotel names, you can narrow the location. I search by the lowest price, but the highest star rating. 3 stars usually gets me a Hilton, Doubletree, Crown Plaza or Sheraton.

Kevin, I have to weigh in on the Paris apartment rental idea. Try Vacation in Paris (www.vacationinparis.com). They will charge a little extra for stays shorter than 4-5 nights, but their prices are so reasonable you still come out ahead.

We also used vacationinparis.com for a short stay. They have lots of apartments available for 3-7 days in many different areas of the city. We were very happy with their service!
