Paris hotel/apt last minute help

My mom is trying to book a 4-night stay (including the weekend) in Paris a month from now and everything is booked! She wanted to stay in the Rue Cler area and tried all the budget options in the book (she wanted to stay closer to 100E). She's trying other areas now, but it's not looking good. Any ideas? How about an apartment? She wanted something cute like Hotel du Champs de Mars. Neighborhood is flexible. Thanks for any ideas.

Thanks, that one is also full all the nights (I can see it through the website). :( Yikes, this is getting worse and worse.

Hotel de L'Avre is on the border of the 7th and 15th arrondissement, about a 10 min walk to rue Cler. We've stayed there and love it. Rooms are nice, nice bathrooms, nice lobby and breakfast room, beautiful garden to eat breakfast in or just sit and enjoy, extremely nice owner (Bernard) and staff. We loved it. It's in a great location: 1/2 block from the Metro at La Motte Picquet-Grenelle (it's a particularly good metro stop because it's where 3 major metro lines intersect), they have a really good Monoprix there (combination grocery store and department store) and the best outdoor market in Paris. I highly recommend it. Prices are under 100 Euro. Their website is: www.hoteldelavre.com Your mom could phone them for a quicker response. They speak English.

Monique,I'v been planning a trip to paris myself.I've found a lot of rental by owner on craigslist as well as the other popular sites. So,I would recommend trying Craigslist under Paris then vacation rentals.I hope that helps.

Monique: Tell your mother to try the Hotel Ideal in the 15th. It is not on rue Cler, it is not near rue Cler but Bus No. 42, which you can get not far from the hotel, passes not too far away from rue Cler so it should be RS approved. I personally would never stay on or near rue Cler, but to each his own.

Monique,

Given the problems you're having finding a vacancy, if you can't find an apartment you may have to consider paying more than you originally budgeted (some Hotels will offer a slight discount for guests that stay more than three nights).

One other Hotel you might try is the Hotel Duquesne Eiffel, which is in the Rue Cler area (but not right on Rue Cler). It's a beautiful Hotel, the staff are wonderful, they have great breakfasts and it's close to the Ecole Militaire Metro stop. It's also within fairly easy walking distance to the Musee Rodin, Invalides and other sites. The rooms on one corner have an awesome view of the Eiffel Tower.

Good luck!

While it's not popular on this board. You might try Hotwire/Priceline. Try going to www.betterbidding.com and see what folks are getting. I know I saw some $120 hotel rooms in Sept....

Good Luck!

Monigue - Have you tried vacationinparis.com? We used them in late June for a 5 night stay in the Rue Cler.

Hi Monique--I second the vacationinparis suggestion. They have lots of apartments, and they are showing some last-minute deals on their website.

I believe there are fashion fairs/shows going on September 5, 6 & 7 (if not most of the month). Is it possible to change your itinerary? If not, stay out of town and take the train in. I love the town of Chartres, 1 hr.away. Check out this website for accommodations: http://www.chartres-tourisme.com/en/accommodations-,332.html Good luck! The two of you have fun making lifetime memories on your trip (my daughter and I did).

I would stay in Paris rather than commute to an out of town location. Plus, you definitely need to experience the City of Light at night! There are many other areas than Rue Cler to stay in.

Thanks so much, everyone! All the suggested hotels were booked, but there were a few choices left at vacationinparis.com and she was able to get something. This is exactly the kind of info I was hoping to get from you people. Thanks again!
