Finally snagged a good airfare deal and need help finding something in Paris for July 16-20 or 21. 2 adults and a 7-year-old. Everything is so pricey. Aiming for under $150 a night, will pay more for AC if necessary. Would love to stay in Rue Cler area, I have loved Hotel du Champ de Mars on past trips but they don't have triples (and the last time I stayed there it was $70 for a double, miss those days!). Also considering Hotwire but July is so busy it's tough. Any ideas?
Monique, I have used hotwire, but never for Paris, location matters alot to me and Hotwire tends you use rooms in large chain type hotels and those are rarely centrally located in Paris. I would check out Timhotel Jardins Des Plantes good location , central and your child will enjoy the Jardin des Plants! They seem to have some good prices. Four nights for just over 300 euros.
Read the reviews on tripadvisor.com paris forums, just google the hotel name and word reviews. Seems like a decent place ,, with ac too.
I stayed at the hotel that Pat suggested (Timhotel Jardin des Plantes) about 5 years ago. It was fine, just two blocks from a metro and across from the lovely garden).
Have you considered renting an apartment? It would give everyone a little more space. Check out vrbo.com or vacationinparis.com.
Thank you Ken and Laurie, both of those sites look great and I think an apartment is the way to go for us. I hope I am able to find one! Ken, I live a few towns away from you. :)
I would love an apartment and have searched through VBRO, but most of them seem to be over 200Euro per night. I found a Timhotel on Hotwire in the 17th for $87 with 3.5 on Trip Advisor; not my dream location/hotel but at that price it's certainly something to consider. I really would love an apartment in the 7th near Rue Cler.
Hi Monique, If it were me (and it was until recently), I would be hesitant to rent an apartment unless the owner or agency had received numerous positive reviews and comments. My family and I are going to spend one week in Paris earlier in July and arranged to stay here: http://your-vacation-rental-by-owner-in-paris.com/argenson-apartment-le-marais-75004/ Pascal gets many fine comments for his apartments, he owns all of them and he lives locally. Many of his apartments seem to fit into your budget. Pascal has been extremely good and responsive to work with via email and I look forward to meeting him. When we return I'll post a review.
We are staying in www.myparisvisit.com apartment on Jun 1. So far everything seems to be going well. There good reviews for this company on tripadvisor and I have e-mailed a couple of people who used them and they told me all went well and that the apartments were as advertised. They have different sized apartments and their rates seem to be quite good.
I forgot to mention that I was able to book 4 nights-didn't need to book a whole week, which is what attracted me in the first place, besides their rates. www.myparisvisit.com
I wouldn't delay a moment, Monique. Accommodations in Paris (and the rest of France) are getting tight for July.
We swear by Citadines!
I think we are going to do this one with Pascal:
http://your-vacation-rental-by-owner-in-paris.com/bourbon-ile-saint-louis/ Tiny though! My only concern is no AC. It is the ground floor and 2nd floor though, maybe that will be okay? We will be there mid-July.
