Paris Hotel

Has anyone stayed at Victoria Palace, left bank in Paris? Staying four nights in September and was suggested to check this hotel out. Looking for private bath, and charm. Do not want a chain hotel. This place is a little pricy, but, may be the norm for Paris.

Deb September is possibly the busiest month of the year for hotels in Paris, its fashion week and trade show season , so frankly finding a hidden reasonably priced gem with a vacancy at this point is going to be VERY hard.. I wouldn't waste too much time dithering. Suggest you read the reviews on the hotel on tripadvisor.com I can usually find a decent small hotel for under 120 euros , but I book months in advance.. like feb or march!

Victoria Palace gets good reviews on TA but it sure is expensive. My favorite hotel is less expensive and in my favorite neighborhood of Paris... Hotel de Lutece on Ile St. Louis. A half block away is their sister hotel, Hotel des Deux Iles. Just a thought. I can recommend others too if you're interested ;)

I love the Saint Jacques hotel in the 5th arrondissement, and never stayed at the Palace Hotel. Since many hotels will probably be fully-booked for September, you should check this website to have a lot of choice: www.petitfute.uk.com It's providing a lot of addresses for accommodation.
have fun planning your trip !

I love Hotel Britannique near the Hotel de Ville. It is a 3 star and a little pricey, but certainly not a chain and I believe I got eggs and orange juice at breakfast-more than the usual croissant and coffee.

We hosted a French exchange student a number of years ago, and he strongly recommended staying near the Eiffel Tower - which is where he lives now that he's grown and out of his parents' house. I just stayed in Hotel Eber Mars, and loved it! He allows no smoking, or alcohol consumption -- but offers 24 hr "breakfast" which is a baguette, coffee, tea, chocolate, yogurt etc., We walked to the Eiffel tower every single night at dark to see the lighting. I was alone with my 11 year old grand daughter and felt very safe. Also on the same street is the Hotel Kensington and Hotel Bourdonnaise -- both of which were nicer/more expensive - but check them out. We enjoyed walking to the Eiffel Tower every night for the lighting -- it was absolutely spectacular and free!

Hotel du Champ de Mars is where we stayed. Book it directly with the hotel to save money. Nothing wrong with good ole fashion picking up the phone and calling them. It's walkable to the Eifel Tower, and it's practically on one of the great attractions is Paris Rue Cler. The price of the hotel is reasonable.
