Paris for Valentine's Day....PLEASE HELP!!

I am surprising my husband with a trip to Paris for Valentine's day 2009, and i need major help. I just returned from a Euro trip in October, and loved Paris so much that i booked our tickets right there and then. Only one problem, I have no idea where to take him valentine's night. We will do all the tourist stuff, and see all the sights but i want to have dinner, or maybe see a show....or something.

Please, if you have any suggestions it will be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: Nov 27th

Thanks for all your suggestions everyone. I have narrowed it down to either Café de l'homme, or Les Ombres. So which of the 2 is the best value? I have about $200USD to spend on this dinner.

Read several guidebooks or online guides and find a nice, romantic, typically Parisian restaurant -- with good food. If the weather is not too good, spend the evening there and enjoy.
If money is absolutely no object, I recommend Le Grand Vefour (reserve well in advance) -- but there are many many options. I'd start with a nice dinner for sure.

What did you have in mind? 3-4 Michelin star restaurant (can't help you there), or more moderate typical Parisian bistro? If the latter, try Au Cadet de Gascogne, up in the small market square in Montmartre, just beyond Sacre Coeur. I'm trying to think of a good description of this place, but the words "intimate" and "cozy" keep popping in my head. There's often live music as well, of the sort you'd expect to hear in Paris.

I really think that you have to startle him with location.... I'm talking Eiffel Tower. I've never eaten dinner there but have enjoyed cocktails at Altitude 95 in the Eiffel tower. Not nearly as expensive as the other restaurant in the tower(Jules Verne). This may not be typical Rick Steves fare but you have to love the view! I saw an engagement there and I have to say it is one of the most romantic places in the world. Here is a link to a helpful page regarding these two restaurants and their contact info as you will want to reserve ASAP for this special day.

I actually thought about that, but the resturants in the Eiffle Tower are closed from Nov 11th, until mid-late March.

Thanks anyway...

Monel....the Altitude 95 restaurant at the Eiffel Tower is indeed closed for a complete revamping until late next March. But the more expensive (and higher) Jules Verne is still open....it reopened only a year ago after a complete re-do, under chef Alain Ducasse. Lunch is 85 Euro pp...dinner, 200 Euro. Of course, it's expensive but, hey, it's Valentine's Day! The one problem....if there's low cloud that day....there won't be much of a view. See http://www.restaurants-toureiffel.com .You can book on-line, but if you choose it, do it ASAP.

Maybe someone who has followed this site for awhile can pull up advice from Jona...she suggested a restaurant in the Trocadero, the name of which i can't remember, but from it you SEE the Eiffel Tower which might be more spectacular than eating IN the Tower

I would recommend Le Grand Colbert. It was featured in the movie "Something's Gotta Give " with Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson. Their website is amazing with all sorts of information. We are planning to go there for our 30th anniversary in June 2009.

I forgot to mention a great book for dining in Paris. It is called Great Eats Paris by Sandra Gustafson. Our friends just moved to Paris for 5 years and I gave them this book. They have been using the book and say that the recommendations are amazing!

I vote for Café de L'Homme...have not eaten there but i know the view is worthy of Valentine's Day...Have eaten at Georges..rather cold, and at Le Grand Colbert..which i love for the atmosphere and the quite good food...but it's a bit noisey and you won't get the Diane Keaton table..late lunch or early supper is best time...but it's not really a V day place
