Hi!
I will be traveling to France next May and am at the planning stage. My trip is 15 days and I will be spending the final 4 nights in Paris. I am flying into Paris and then would like to travel to Dordogne as well as visit Montpellier and Carcassone. I am open to renting a car and at first thought I would take a train from the airport down to Montpellier (2 nights) rent a car and tour Dordogne (staying in Sarlat) and then returning to Paris. Any thoughts on car vs train travel, places to see, must see stops, etc.? I do plan to at least rent a car for the 6 or so days I will be visiting Dordogne. Very open and appreciative of your recommendations!
We flew from SFO through CDC on Air France to Montpelier in May. Small, easy airport and the easiest car rental ever. You will want a car for Provence and you will need a car for the Dordogne. Sarlat makes a great base. You can take a train back to Paris for your last four nights there. Happy planning.
