Most people recommend the night cruise, but I prefer the day cruise. I can see more and Paris is beautiful day or night.

You probably can't go wrong either way. We went at night, and found it magical. It was fun to see the various sites that we had visited by day all lighted by night. Seeing the Eiffel lighted at night was incredible. It is also cooler at night, and you don't have to worry about having sun in your eyes.

We did a night cruise the night before we left. Just as the boat pulled away from the dock, the Eiffel Tower light show went off....magical. Just beautiful. made the whole trip extra special.

I like to do the night cruise. As for seeing Paris by boat during the daylight, you might want to consider using the batobus. It is a hop on/hop off boat with multiple stops on both sides of the river. On my first trip to Paris we bought a 5 day pass (the more days, the cheaper the pass) and used it as our transportation. We only took the metro twice, once when we were tired of walking and too far from the river and once when we wanted to get somewhere before the batobus started operating. You can get to most tourist sites easily by using the batobus and walking from one of their stops.

It depends when you're coming . . .the weather has been so chilly here all spring that there wouldn't be any heat relief taking the night cruise! It's nice at both times, but it's true there's something special about seeing all the sights along the river all lit up . . . but it can be a wonderful way to "rest" and still sightsee in the afternoon, as well! I've usually just gone on the simple Bateaux Mouches, which you get at Pont de l'Alma. Nothing fancy.

My favorite one is the one right by Notre Dame Cathedral (don't remember the name, sorry). They have a real person telling you about the sights vs a taped recording which I find annoying and hard to understand. And I always make sure (whatever company) that it's a boat with an upper deck that is open to the air, not one that is closed in and you have to look out dirty windows.

I've done several cruises on the Seine and either day or night is good - whatever works with your schedule. There are several options but I would NOT recommend the Bateau Mouche - their boats are huge, crowded with tour bus groups, etc. My fave is Vedette du Pont Neuf, although their spiel can be very fast. They offer a coupon for 2euro off on their Website.
