Paris - connection between aidport and Bayeux

We will be flying into CDG and want to go to Bayeux, near the D-Day Beaches. Is there a train connection? What is the best way to do this? Thanks for your help

Hi Karen, Will you be going directly to Normandy from CDG? If so, I believe there is one train a day out of CDG (haven't checked that since last trip) to Caen and as far as I know none to Bayeux. To get to Bayeux you would need to leave from Gare St. Lazare in Paris to Caen and then from Caen to Bayeux. The easier way would be to take the train from CDG to Gare Saint Lazare where trains to Caen (an easier destination than Bayeaux) run frequently. I recommend taking the train to Caen and picking up your car there since Caen is a much larger town and has a better selection of rental cars - and you will need a rental car to tour the D Day beaches!

There are no direct trains from CDG to Caen. Take the RER B from CDG to Gare du Nord. Walk through the connecting tunnels to the Magenta RER station and take the RER E one stop to Haussmann - Saint-Lazare. Walk to Gare Saint-Lazare. Some trains go directly to Bayeux (with a stop in Caen). Others require a connection in Caen to a regional train to Bayeux. For a zoomable map of the metro and RER system, go here: http://tinyurl.com/6xmvms4. Booked well in advance (up to three months allowed), you can get discount fares for Paris-Bayeux; but the tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable so you have to allow plenty of time to get from CDG to Gare Saint-Lazare. What time are you scheduled to arrive at CDG?
