We will be making our first trip to Paris the last week of October and my wife always tries to bring back a unique Christmas ornament from our travels. As I understand it we will be too early for the Christmas markets so wondering if anyone knows of any Paris shops that might sell Christmas merchandise? Thanks for the help.
Most standard souvenier shops around Paris have a few Xmas ornaments. I found a nice one at a shop across the street from Notre Dame last September. The shops on the Rue de Rivoli are also good places to look.
A lot of cathedrals and museums have them in their gift shops at any time of year.......or even some souvenir that can ve hung on the tree
The museum shop on the lower level of The Louvre had a collection a few years ago.
If all else fails, you can find an Eiffel tower keychain anywhere in Paris [INVALID] just remove the keyholder part and you have a ready-to-hang ornament.
Don't overlook the tacky-tourist places! You never know what you're going to find in those shops. I did a 'BG/Charlene' combo last fall - in one of a very-long-line of tourist shops along the Seine I found an ornament with the Eiffel Tower on it - midnight blue with a gold tower and fireworks shooting from it. (looks much better that it sounds LOL!) I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to my ornaments - they have to earn their way onto my tree - and this one was fairly inexpensive, came with a very sturdy box to protect it, AND I got a bonus: a free bronze-colored Eiffel Tower keychain/ornament. As far as an actual devoted-to-Christmas-only store in Paris, I've never seen one. And I can sniff them out...(please don't tell me where one is LOL!)
The Costco in Birmingham switched to Christmas (ornaments, fake trees, chocolates, food) (but, thank goodness, no music) three weeks ago. Maybe somewhere in Paris has gone over, too. Carrefour?
Thanks for the great suggestions. If we find someplace unique I'll post it when we return. Thanks again for the help.
