Paris: Chez Virginie Cheese Tasting (Fromage Degustation)

I have seen a lot of positive reviews for the O'Chateau Wine and Cheese tasting lunch. However, when I go to Paris this October, I would like to go to a cheese tasting that focuses on the cheese. Chez Virginie offers a cheese tasting for 90 Euros per person in English (I contacted her for the price) http://www.chezvirginie.com/pages/cheese-and-wine-sessions.html Has anyone done the cheese tasting at Chez Virginie? I see three reviews of just the cheese shop in French on yelp, nothing on trip advisor. The description sounds lovely, but it would be great to hear from someone who has been. If you haven't been to a cheese tasting at Chez Virginie - have you been to a cheese tasting elsewhere? Is it worth the 180 Euro for two people, or should I just walk into a cheese shop? Thanks!

I've heard of this, but didn't realize it was so expensive. Honestly, unless they serve really high end wines with the cheese, it would be hard to say it's "worth it." If you are a cheese lover, I'd recommend the "French Cheeses" book by DK Publishing. If you decided not to do ChezVirgine, you could always take that book in to a cheese shop, purchase several cheeses and then get wines to go with them. The book recommends wines to go with each cheese, or you could ask at a wine shop.

Never done such a thing, and I bet there would knowledge imparted, but wow, could I do some damage with €180.

Thanks for the input. I just ordered a copy of the French Cheeses book, so I'll create my own degustation while I'm there.
