paris by taxi

has anyone actually used rick's idea to engage a taxi for an evening paris lights tour?
we have four people...but, it still sounds like a fun idea?

Mary is sounds expensive to me,, but thats something everyone decides for themselves.. Plus I hate the idea I might get stuck in traffic with meter running.
Maybe consider a nice night cruise, the monuments and bridges look great lit up , and its about 10-15 euros each( depending on which one you choose also some have coupons etc) Parisvisions and Cityrama are two main bus tour companies that offer night tours. They are reputable and well known, but big bus tours.

The Paris Visions or Cityrama tours will be all you need. you mostly want to drive past the lighted sights. they will probably have a stop overlooking the eiffel tower and a few others

thanks for the comments! just thinking of using rick's idea from his paris book rather than a huge bus. he estimates only about 45 to 50 euros for the hour's ride...i will check on cost for a bus and compare.

Hi, Mary I debated about doing a night tour on an earlier post.
The general consensus was that it was not worth it. On the bus tours, you just get an audio tape. One person replied that they ended up seeing the sights again anyway when they walked around at night.

methinks ricky may be wrong,, its about 45-55 euros to take a taxi from airport in,, thats about 35-45 minutes,, BUT at least 20 of those minutes are highway traffic easy,, I think an hour of city driving will amount to alot more,, more like 100 euros, BUT ,, that may be cheaper then some tours,,, not as long, but perhaps about same price.. so who know,, try it and let us know, lol its not a bad idea for four of you !

You might have trouble finding a taxi driver willing to take four of you. Many of them reserve the front seat for their petit chien. Even without the dog, they just don't want a passenger sitting there.

A nighttime cruise on the Seine is dreamy - and far cheaper (unless you take the dinner cruise) - than a cab. Taxis are quite costly ...ticking clock or not. You actually might try emailing Rick's HQ and asking for a car service recommendation. We were arriving at CDG after a grueling flight(s) and were so thankful to have secured the taxi. It was actually a SUV which could have easily fit your party of 4. His company could be booked for tours also. Might be a win-win for you all. (Even if you decide to book a cab for a city lights tour, please make certain to hop on a Bateau Mouche, day or night. It gives you a marvelous perspective of the City of Light.)

Skip the bus tour and take the Bateau Mouche! Way way better and cheaper too! At night. Bobbie
