Paris - buying hair drier near Gare du Nord

I fly into Paris, stay one night near Du Nord, then train out next day. Want to buy small hair drier and some other essentials. Is there some inexpensive store (similar to a Walgreen or Target) nearby that has that stuff?

Monoprix is what you are looking for. It looks like there is one on 18 rue de Dunkerque, very close to the Gare du Nord. Good luck and have fun!

While Monoprix will have what you want, it is by no means inexpensive. If you have room in your suitcase, it should be less expensive to buy a travel hair dryer in the US (don't forget the outlet adapter with it!) and bring it with you.

Thanks. Am trying to get everything in a carry-on bag and thought I could buy a cheap hair dryer in France. Any idea on a cheap store that might have it?

My US hair dryer died in Paris a few years ago and I got a new one at Darty. Not really cheap as I remember but I didn't really have any choice as I didn't want to spend much of my time in Paris hunting for the cheapest store. I can't comment on how Darty compares with Monoprix but I have taken it on several trips to Europe since then and I felt it was worth the price.

Next a Pigalle Station, on the boulevard exist an electronic shop like Best Buy, I think with a lot of things to choose. I bought there and iron, very good since now, with dual Voltage device...
