Rick recommends doing the bus 69 tour from east to west. Has anyone done it in the opposit direction. I will be at the Pere Lachiase cemetary and would like to end the day with the bus ride.
Whoa! Now that I know you’re referring to a real bus ride, check this out: http://www.nytimes.com/1988/08/14/travel/views-from-the-no-69-bus-through-paris.html
I think I remember that some 69 busses only go as far as the Louvre. I do not remember how to tell the difference.
I've taken this trip in both directions. If you are traveling from Pere Lachaise toward rue Cler, you will be traveling east to west. Buses don't always cover the entire route and may end somewhere along the route. To tell where the bus ends, read the sign on the front of the bus. The moving sign will indicate the end of the line for that bus.
The #69 bus ride east to west is more interesting than west to east. One-way streets create a more scenic route. If you have a pass, you can use the public buses to hop-on-hop-off inexpensively.
I bought a bus schedule (small book) for all the Paris buses. This has helped me figure out bus routes and possible connections.
