Paris/Burgundy/Loire - 7 nights

Hello! Any insight is greatly appreciated... For instance this too much driving?

Arrive Paris, 2 nights in Paris

Train to Dijon, rent car, 2 nights near Beaune

Drive to Loire Valley, Stop 1 night in Sancerre

Drive rest of the way, 2 nights Chenonceau (Hotel la Roseraie)

Drive to CSG to drop car and fly home

Husband and I are looking for food, culture, wine, and sightseeing. We're independant travelers and like to stay cheaply. We've been to Paris before (hence the 2 nights).

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

This seems pretty well-thought-out. Personally I wouldn't spread myself quite so thin, but I can understand why you are covering as much ground as you are.

You might be able to save a little money if you take the train to Beaune and pick up your rental car there the next day. Beaune is worth a day and/or you could rent bicycles and explore during the afternoon.

The Michelin green guides are a great source of ideas for motorists.

Adam, thanks! We plan to stay just outside of Beaune for 2 nights, so we'll definitely explore. One person has said they would skip the night in Sancerre, and either do 3 nights in Beaune or 3 in Chenonceaux instead. We were thinking we'd avoid a long (5 hour?) drive that way...but maybe that's the wrong choice. Any thoughts?

Sancerre or not, either is reasonable, and the issue is that five-hour drive. Your call.
