Paris - Best Westerns

Any comments about the various Best Western hotels in Paris? My husband is a top tier member and would like to try to use points instead of paying for our 2 nights in Paris. I'd like to be centrally located, but will sacrifice location for safety.

I stayed at the Best Western Aida Opera hotel on rue Richer this past Sept. It's in the 9th arrondisement. I had never stayed in this area before and found it totally fine. Check Trip Advisor for reviews of it. Lots of stores and restaurants around, I always felt safe -- thought I was not out late at night.

I think I have it narrowed down to:

BEST WESTERN Hotel Eiffel Segur
34 Boulevard Garibaldi ; Paris, FRANCE; 75015 FRA

and

32000 BEST WESTERN Paris Louvre Opera
4 Rue Des Moulins ; Paris, FRANCE; 75001 FRA

Leaning towards the latter of these two

Hi Kent - I guess I consider ANY big city has areas that are safer than others.....since my knowledge of Paris is from living in Europe in the 80s, I'm clueless.

I know my husband will want to see the Tower, but I think we'll end up spending one whole day in and around the Louvre.

I once stayed, I believe, at the BW Tour Eiffel Invalides. (I say I believe because it was 15 years ago.)

I looked at the website and the hotel seems the same but it has changed. When I stayed there the staff spoke practically no English, Breakfast was included--and you could have it in your room--and all the other amenities they list now were nowhere to be seen.

The location is great. Walking distance to the Eiffel Tower, Rue Cler, one block from the metro.

Hi Shari-Lynn,
There is a hotel in the 1st arround, called Best Western Ducs De Bourgogne. It is located a block from
Rue De Rivoli at 19 Rue De Pont Neuf. I have stayed there 3 times before it became a BW. The best part
of this hotel is it's central location. It is 5 minutes from the Louvre, 2 minutes from the Seine and Notre Dame and 5 minutes from the Pompidou Center.
The Chalet Les Halles, a metro hub, which can connect you to CDG is also 5 minutes away!
There is an bakery, market and many restaurants right there as well. This is a smaller hotel and it very clean and charming. The price is right as well.
I no longer stay in hotels or I would certainly stay here. I prefer apts. You might want to chck this onee out.

Any of these are excellent choices. I would only add this point. Request a room that is quiet-usually an interior room. You may not have the view you want, but you will be free from traffic noise. Parisian drivers love their horns and scooters can be rather noisy, especially at night. Just a thought.

We have stayed twice at the BW Eiffel Park in the Rue Cler area, totally charming, very safe (for a big city can be), close to the pedestrian area of Rue Cler. It is on Rue Amelie (sp) Close to all sorts of transportation- Les Invalides Metro, Buses -read Rick's account of bus #69 which will take you to or close to many of the sites you will want to visit. The restaurant Tribeca on Rue Cler may be a place to dine. ..kind people, reasonable prices, delicious food-once again, on Rue Cler. Bon Voyage!
